The Wedding of Gianni & Frieda at Cranford

Premier Wedding Photography in Durban, South Africa

Due to the COVID-19 restrictions we were unable to meet in person with Gianni and Frieda prior to their wedding. However from the moment we met on their special day, we knew that the day was going to have a relaxed atmosphere about it.

Although the weather didn’t play it’s part, Cranford certainly did as the trees and flowers were in full bloom making for some spectacular photographs. We enjoyed shooting in the overcast weather as the lighting was consistent and when you have flowers doing their best rainbow impersonations, the imagery is stunning. Alex from Cranford thought of everything possible to make the day run smoothly – thank you Alex.

Gianni, Frieda and their families were great hosts and we appreciated their efforts to include us in the days festivities which included a party with Allan McCabe on the decks. The moment that stood out the most for us in the evening was when Gianni’s father, while giving his speech, started telling a joke about the Italians (Gianni) and Germans (Frieda) in WW2. I think almost everyone started to cringe but in the end it was a very clever joke and the guests all laughed and nobody was offended.  A very brave but sharp father of the groom, well done.

Welcome back to weddings, woohoo!

This was the first wedding for our team since the start of the COVID pandemic and we couldn’t have picked a better venue. Although between Matt and I we have covered over 700 weddings, we had that “rookie” feeling. We arrived super early, checked and rechecked our gear and kept reassuring ourselves that we had enough footage and had covered everything. It just shows what an extended break can do for your confidence. On the other hand it did also did give us a renewed enthusiasm to capture unique wedding day moments.  Here are a few from the day.
